Aglaonema has been bred into an artist's palette — silver, red, pink, and cream patterns on dense upright foliage — while keeping the tolerant soul of a floor plant. It's the patterned alternative to pothos for dim, warm rooms.
Care. Water when the top inch or two dries; it dislikes soggy soil but forgives short droughts. Low to medium light preserves the pattern; brighter indirect light speeds growth (keep variegated forms out of harsh sun). Warm rooms preferred — keep above 60°F and away from cold drafts, which show up as brown leaf edges. Feed lightly monthly in the growing season.
Watch for: brown edges (cold drafts, hard water), and root rot in consistently wet soil. Like its relatives, it is toxic if chewed by pets (calcium oxalates) — place on stands in pet homes.
