Peperomia argyreia looks like a novelty item and grows like a serious plant: each teardrop leaf striped green and silver exactly like a watermelon rind, held on red stalks in a tidy one-foot clump. It's the rare designer plant that's both compact and pet-safe.
Care. Medium indirect light preserves the stripe contrast; hot sun scorches, deep dim fades. Water when the top inch dries — its semi-succulent leaves store reserves, so err dry. The one real sensitivity is overwatering in cold soil; a light airy mix and a drink only when dry keeps it safe. Enjoy its smallness — it never outgrows a shelf. Feed dilute monthly in growth.
